The Stone in your Heart

On our visit to the Pagoda in Quanzhou, our relative pointed to this one and said, “把心那块石头放下.” The writing for heart in Chinese is 心 (pronounced as “xin”), but with this one the dot inside the xin was placed underneath. It depicts that we should put down “the stones” or cast away the troubles from our heart. I once said that this would be nice to do but hard to achieve. One distant cousin said that if I can’t put down my cares instantly, I can choose to put them aside for the meantime. That is another way to put it 🙂
