Just finished reading the book 星空 (Starry Starry Night). We also have the movie book from our last visit to Kinokuniya. 五月天’s song 星空 was used as OST in the movie. It’s a beautiful story, simple but deep in what it is trying to relay. My sis urged me to write something like that too, a children’s book. I’m inspired to do so. She said that I should also draw. I will try to work on some drafts.
The song by Mayday is very meaningful and the MV above is touching. The story is quite sad, but speaks much about life, of things that we do for the people we love and not expecting anything in return but the hope to be seen. Hope is poured out as the boy misses his mother and towards the end, the mother sees the drawing on the wall of her son’s bedroom. But in the end, it is revealed that the mom has already gone.
We haven’t watch the movie yet. But I was able to see the trailer. It looks really good where they portrayed scenes from the graphic novel. I like the part where the jigsaw puzzle collapse and the origami animals in the Noah’s ark.
We learned in our mass media classes about transforming a text into different forms of media. A book can be turned into a movie or vice versa, a music video could be made from a song, a song can be used as an Official Sound Track to shed light to a film. Ashin was requested to write the theme song of the movie 星空, which depicts the life and story of the book and film.
Grateful for good music, great piece of art and literature, and beautifully created film… for the writers, lyricist and musician, and production team.
