It comes that time of year again when people give out and eat mooncakes. Look at the moon at its fullness, as well as play dice (Pua tiong chiu) and win prizes. It’s 8/15 of the Lunar calender and we commemorate this day by spending time with family, watching the moon and sharing some mooncake. Other countries celebrate this with lanterns too, brightly-lit and colorful in the night. Definitely a wonderful festivity.
My professors and mentors in the university would repeatedly ask me whenever I share them some mooncake about the origin of this festivity and I would tell them again and again as if I’m being tested. So at that time I read up some stories to refresh my memories.
